Librarian
Role Summary
The Librarian manages the troop’s collection of Scouting literature, including merit badge pamphlets, handbooks, magazines, and other reference materials. This Scout ensures that resources are available, organized, and accessible to troop members when needed.
Requirements
- Selection: Appointed by the Senior Patrol Leader with Scoutmaster approval
- Training: Should complete Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST)
Core Responsibilities
- Maintain an inventory of troop merit badge pamphlets, handbooks, and other literature
- Set up a system for lending and returning materials
- Keep the troop library organized and in good condition
- Make literature available at troop meetings for Scouts to check out
- Track which materials are checked out and follow up on overdue items
- Recommend new materials for purchase to the Patrol Leaders’ Council
- Promote the use of Scouting literature to support advancement and learning
