Spring Hike

Annual spring hike open to all dens and families, held in April. A pack-wide outdoor activity that supports outdoor advancement requirements and builds community as the spring Scouting season begins.

The Spring Hike is a full-pack outdoor event that kicks off the spring Scouting season. Held at a local state park or nature preserve, it provides Scouts the opportunity to complete Outdoor Adventure advancement requirements while enjoying spring scenery. The Program Chair selects a trail appropriate for the youngest Scouts (Lion/Tiger age) while still engaging for Webelos. This event requires minimal gear and is accessible to all families.

  • Typical hike length: 1–3 miles depending on youngest participant’s ability
  • Class B t-shirts or pack gear; sturdy footwear required
  • Bring Cub Scout Six Essentials: first aid kit, water, trail food, flashlight, sun protection, whistle
  • Coordinate any advancement sign-offs with den leaders before the hike
