Winter Camping Coordinator

The Winter Camping Coordinator plans the pack’s annual winter camping trip — typically the pack’s biggest overnight event. This involves reserving a cabin or campsite, planning the program, coordinating food and supplies, and ensuring all BSA safety requirements are met.

  • Registration: Registered adult leader of BSA; current with YPT
  • Recommended: BALOO training (required for leading a pack overnight)
  • Inherits training requirements from the Program Chair role
  • Reserve a cabin or winter-capable campsite (typically January–February)
  • Plan the event program: winter activities, campfire, sledding, games, meals
  • Communicate event details to pack families (dates, cost, what to bring, winter gear requirements)
  • Coordinate with the Assistant Cubmaster for Food on meal planning for cold weather
  • Coordinate with the Equipment Coordinator on sleeping bags, gear, and cabin supplies
  • Ensure at least one BALOO-trained adult is present
  • Handle event registration and fees (coordinate with Treasurer)
  • Ensure all BSA cold-weather safety requirements are met
