Cub Scout Edible Campfire Activity
Section titled “Cub Scout Edible Campfire Activity”A hands-on food craft where Scouts build an “edible campfire” using snack foods arranged to look like a campfire. Great for pack meetings and campout programs.
Materials needed:
- Pretzel sticks (logs)
- Orange and red candy corn or gummy bears (flames)
- Chocolate chips or craisins (embers)
- Paper plates
Instructions:
- Give each Scout a paper plate as their “campfire base”
- Arrange pretzel sticks in a criss-cross pattern to form the “logs”
- Place candy pieces at the center to represent the flames
- Add chocolate chips or craisins around the base as embers

Cub Scout Outdoor Scavenger Hunt
Section titled “Cub Scout Outdoor Scavenger Hunt”A printable scavenger hunt for outdoor den meetings, campouts, and park hikes. Scouts search for natural objects and complete outdoor observation challenges.
Typical items on the list:
- Something smooth / something rough
- A leaf with more than 5 points
- A bird or animal track (or photo of one)
- Something that floats / something that sinks (test in a stream)
- Five different types of plants
- Something made by an animal
- Evidence of something that has grown or changed
Tips for leaders:
- Preview the site to confirm scavenger hunt items are findable
- Pair younger Scouts with an older Scout or adult
- Allow 15–20 minutes for the hunt, then reconvene as a group to share finds
