Charter Organization Representative (Charter Org Rep)

Section titled “Role Summary”The Charter Organization Representative (COR) is the direct link between the pack and its charter organization. The COR serves as the official representative of the charter organization to both the pack and to the council. The COR ensures the pack’s program aligns with the charter organization’s values, signs all adult applications, and plays a key role in the annual recharter process.
Requirements
Section titled “Requirements”- Age: 21 years or older
- Membership: Should be a member of the charter organization
- Registration: Appointed by the charter organization; registered as an adult leader of BSA
- Required Training:
- Youth Protection Training (YPT) — renew every 2 years
- Pack Committee Training
- Charter Organization Representative Training
Core Responsibilities
Section titled “Core Responsibilities”- Serve as liaison between the pack and the charter organization
- Help select the right leadership for the pack
- Promote well-planned, quality unit programs including outdoor programs, advancement, and recognition
- Promote recruiting of new members
- See that Cub Scouts transition smoothly from unit to unit (e.g., AOL to Scouts BSA)
- Help with the annual charter renewal (sign recharter application and adult applications)
- Suggest service projects to benefit the charter organization and community
- Encourage the unit committee to hold regular meetings
- Cultivate leaders and encourage necessary training of existing and new leaders
- Utilize district help and promote use of district personnel and materials
- Use approved unit finance policies
- Represent the charter organization at the council level
- Support the policies of the BSA
